“We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today. ~Stacia Tauscher”

As I drink my coffee this morning and my kids are eating their breakfast and watching morning cartoons, I sit and think how fast time has gone by. My oldest is now in Kindergarden and we are getting into the routine of getting up for school every morning. Last week I went to pick her up and her teacher commented that “Ava is quite the character.” Hmmmm, I said…is that a good thing? I think I knew exactly what she meant. Ava is a character! She is silly and crazy and as animated as they come! She is the girl in class that probably talks a little to much and speaks at the top of her lungs. We worry and fret over what are children will become someday and how they will “grow up” , but what if we just stopped for a minute to think of who they are today? Ava’s voice will soon be softened and she probably won’t be so animated. She will grow older and become more self-critical  and aware that people are always judging. I hope that she will still keep some of this child-like spirit in her , so for now, I will just enjoy her silly, scrunchie faces and her pure excitement over the smallest things. Until these days pass by to quickly… I will embrace her….just being her.

OH MY! I think you just described my Sam as well. Cherish it. You are right…it will change…and childhood is such a pure and beautiful moment in time that goes too fast. Lovely post dear!

Ha! I think all our children have such big personalities in their own right. We were that way once as well I hope…oh to be a kid again! :)
